Sara Koontz, Enrollment Coordinator at Shenandoah Community Health, will speak about The Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Medicaid expansion in West Virginia. She, along with a team of four other Certified Application Counselors, work locally to help community members understand and enroll in the individual Health Insurance Marketplace and Medicaid/CHIP. Ms. Koontz will discuss requirements and basic concepts associated with the ACA, challenges, and successes from the inaugural enrollment period and plans for the upcoming 2014-2015 enrollment period.
Last Week
Deborah Hammond, former Berkeley County administrator, talked to us about her latest endeavor—writing. She recently published her first novel, a story based in Wilmington, NC right after the civil war. Deborah talked to us about the process she goes through in writing a novel.Miniwheels
The goals for our Foundation contributions are 100% participation contributing $15,000. We have $4,186 so far. December 6th we will have our Breakfast with Santa and we will also ring the bell for the Salvation Army. Please bring some inexpensive items for Santa’s Secret Shop (all items sell for under $3). Tom Keys is still in Johns Hopkins with a lung infection. Prayers and cards are welcomed.
President Chris introduced a raffle called “Christmas Cash Bash” 50/50, drawing to be held at the Rotary Christmas Dinner on December 11, 2014. Proceeds will cover the cost of purchasing Andy & Elmer Coloring Books. The coloring books will be purchased and distributed to 2nd graders in Berkeley County in early November. Fifty percent of the proceeds will put “cash back in your pockets for Christmas”. Please support this program by purchasing one or more raffle tickets @ $5.00 each.
