A HISTORIC EVENT THAT YOU JUST CANNOT MISS!
As you may know, Rotary International Conventions are fun, life-changing events and most are overseas – which creates a major barrier for many club members. But in 2018, local Rotarians will benefit from some historically fortunate scheduling. The Toronto convention is an exciting location that is driveable from Martinsburg – or you can fly or take Amtrak.
2018 Rotary International Convention, June 24 – 27 in Toronto. Official online info

Of the things we think, say or do –
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
I hope this edition of The Grapevine helped get your week off to a fine start. We look forward to seeing you each Thursday at Rotary.

GETTING STUFF IN THE GRAPEVINE (AND MORE) –
Please provide as much of the following as possible: (1) sponsoring organization(s), (2) event or project name, (3) dates/times, (4) location, (5) cause, (6) beneficiaries,(7) costs/needs, (8) actions needed/requested, (9) graphic or flyer, (10) contact name/phone/email, and (11) link to website, if applicable.
Please provide all essential info in writing (a printed flyer is perfect) to Bill Yearout at our Thursday meeting, or email to [email protected] promptly after meeting – or before noon Friday at latest.
Please do not submit stories or narratives, as time does not permit rewriting to fit our format. Also, please understand that circumstances at meetings are such that reliance on verbal announcements is problematic, and time constraints rarely permit running down incomplete, unheard or unclear info, especially with info presented in the community announcement segment of our meeting.
Photos and attachments: Please avoid low quality, low resolution photos. Due to a variety of issues, we normally do not publish attachments to The Grapevine.
The absolute deadline for submitting material to The Grapevine is noon Friday for the weekly issue that goes out Monday. This deadline is necessary so The Grapevine may be compiled and uploaded on Friday afternoon for automatic distribution very early each Monday – to our members and to the print shop, where it is printed/mailed for timely receipt by members who don’t have email.
Community announcements: Although Rotary announcements are the top priority, a special section is maintained to showcase community announcements for charitable purposes of charitable organizations that seem most actionable and relevant to Rotarians. If your community announcement meets these standards but was not included, it may be because clear/written info was not received at our Thursday meeting, or via email by our deadline. Any community announcement to be published for a non-charitable organization or purpose should always be pre-cleared with the President.
Limiting use of special emails:The Grapevine is our general means of communicating with members between meetings. Therefore, to help us avoid excessive emails to our members, please observe The Grapevine’s Friday noon deadline so that your info may be included in the next week’s edition. Any material for a special notice, bulletin or email should be especially pertinent to club activity and too time-sensitive to wait until the next Grapevine. If in doubt, please check with President to insure inclusion.
Know of a member who is not receiving The Grapevine? Please ask them to email [email protected] promptly so that the problem may be addressed.
Got it wrong or left something out? Please email [email protected] right away with all essential info so that it may be published in the next edition of The Grapevine.
With The Grapevine, each Rotarian is a reporter. As editor, I mainly compile, edit and publish. Thanks for your support and cooperation.
Bill Yearout, [email protected] 304 263-1707
